The 5 steps to successđź’Ş

Imagine | Work (hard) | Ignore

Last week, we talked about the Austrian champion, Niki Lauda and his extraordinary career and attitude toward adversity. This week, I will share some insights from another Austrian champion, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Have you been to Austria? My ex-girlfriend lived there and I have to say that Vienna is a real gem. Many mocked Austria as Germany’s little brother. One thing is certain no one mocks Schwarzy!

I’m sure you’ve heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the muscular guy with the German accent who won several Mr. Universe titles, moved from Austria to the United States during a time it was said to be impossible, became a movie star, and now runs charitable projects. He’s lived a life full of dreams and goals that he constantly chased and achieved.

Some might not like the man as he recently said a couple of controversial things, but you cannot take away his success in sport, cinema, politics, and business.

I am not aiming to become Mr Universe, nor a movie star or a politician but his teaching applies across all disciplines.

Who better than him to know how to be successful?

“Work harder and you will reach your goal” – is that really the (only) way to success?

What about “wait for what life brings you”, “the best things in life will find their way to you”, “life has a certain plan for you”, “wait for a sign”…

Listening to his eye-opening, on-point, ass-kicking, and motivating speech will most likely inspire you to work (again) towards your goals (you can watch here). Today, I will share his five secrets to success.

1) Find your vision

You need to have a goal to not drift around. If you have a vision clearly laid out, it doesn’t matter how much you have to work or how much you have to struggle, because you know what the purpose is. Discover your vision and the rest will follow!

2) Never ever think small

Shoot for the stars. What’s wrong with dreaming big?!

I personally love the saying: “Shoot for the star, if you miss you might land on the moon.”

3) Ignore the Nay-sayers

If you have a big vision and goals, it’s natural, for some people to say, “It’s not possible”. There will be people saying, “it doesn’t happen, forget about it”, but don’t listen! Take action and move towards your goal step by step. One step at a time.

4) Work your ass off

You never want to fail because you didn’t work hard enough. Along the lines of no pain, no gain.

No matter what you do: work. work. work.

 5) Don’t just take, give something back

Tear down the mirror that makes you always look at yourself. Once you look beyond that mirror, you’ll see that there are millions and millions of people that need your help. We all can create change.

“Because the bottom line is: it is up to us!

If not now, when?

If not us, who?”

Is it that simple? Yes! Is that easy? Hell no…but remember those five rules and you are off a good start!

1) Have a clear vision

2) Aim for the best

3) Ignore the haters

4) Go all the way in, become the best

5) Share with others
