Team beliefsšŸ‘

Belief | left-brain / right-brain | Love

Last week, I talked about how I have shown consistent self-discipline for the last 2.5 years to create my first company Good Mood CBD. This week, I will talk about how important team belief is in the process.

But first thanks to all those who have celebrated Good Mood, subscribed, engaged, and even bought some of our products. Thanks so much, it really means a lot as we are just starting, and gosh this has required some heavy lifting!

So, in case you missed it and want to follow here it is šŸ˜Š

So, team beliefsā€¦

A few months ago in Your team, I shared with you several thoughts on the topic of Teams but with the birth of Good Mood and several exceptional events on the 28th of May, it was a great opportunity to remind ourselves of how important your team is.

Last week, I mentioned how team spirit is important for success. It is the root of any success. To be fully transparent, sometimes I catch myself feeling cooky and arrogant because I am the one who came up with the idea of this CBD business, but in all fairness, if the three others were not here, we would have never made it a reality.

The challenge is that we are all different, living different lives, having different backgrounds, having different work experiences, and of course, having brains that function in totally different ways. You know the left-brain vs right-brain debate ā€“ well I live it regularly.

But this challenge is similarly an opportunity!

Indeed, those differences ensure our strength, this diversity is complementary, and this life experience offers a broad perspective on things. The only danger here is us ā€“ if weā€™re not able to communicate, understand each other, have our ego taking precedence over the goal, be blinded by our ego, and not want to understand where the other person (with valid points) is coming from.

In the corporate world, there is a framework and tacit rules. When with friends, when it is your business or your money, it becomes very challenging as those rules donā€™t exist and you need to build them up. It is all about the team and the goal in front of it!

You might have missed it but exactly 1 month ago on 28 May, two fabulous examples of what a winning team means were exemplified on the European sporting stage. Rest assured that I am not here geeking about sport, bear with me.

On 28 May, Real Madrid won its 14th Champions League final, while on the same day La Rochelle won its 1st rugby European club final.

2 sports, 2 clubs, 2 countries but a common thread, goal, and belief!

With 13 titles, Real Madrid was already the most decorated club, and few thought they would win the trophy this year.

In the 16th final, they played against Paris. Paris was a better team. Real Madrid won.

In the quarter-final, they played against Chelsea. Chelsea was a better team. Real Madrid won.

In the semi-final, they played against Manchester City. City was better. Real Madrid won in an epic game.

In the final on 28 May in Paris, they played Liverpool. Guess who was a better team and who won?

Luck? Maybe butā€¦seven games. Talent? Certainly. But belief in the goal was essential, believing that until the last blow of the whistle they could get the job done as a team for sure!

Earlier on the same day in Marseille, La Rochelle, a French rugby club with no significant European or domestic trophy won against the Leinster, a 4-time winner of the competition and second to Toulouse with 5 titles, Leinster smashed Toulouse 40-17 in the semi-final, in what was nothing less than a display of mastery.

A steam roller on its way to a 5th title, ready to destroy any opponent. In short, David vs Goliath!

Guess what? David brought Goliath down, in an epic victory.

Luck? Maybe. Talent? Certainly. But belief as a team until the last blow for sure!

Those two examples are two parallels from my own experience in building Good Mood. You need to surround yourself with people, build a common belief, and donā€™t question your ability to deliver until it is over. Then, fantastic things happen!

Question:

What does your team believe?
