Let’s smile, life is happening, now!😀🙏

How blissful and joyful has your week been?

I am super excited about this week’s letter as it is all about joy and smiles.

A more genuine smile than the one asked from us when they scream “Cheeeeessse” before taking a photo. Actually, why do we say “cheese?” Do you know that we say “cheese” in France, when it is actually an English word? What other nationalities say it? Sorry, I am being curious.

We all appreciate the challenging times we have been going through for the past year. It has been hard: physically, emotionally, and financially. A true roller-coaster. Some might have lost their jobs, others their relationships or more. Those times will be remembered.

But in spite of those challenges, it is not all dark and bad.

There are plenty of things that can make our day. That are making our day, I should say. Things that make us smile, giggle or give us a sense of fun and playfulness, showing us that we are alive.

Those little things that makes us say, “coooool”. Simple things that make our day.

In the course of the next months, I will drop a couple letters of that nature to press reset on maybe an intense day, focused mind, or a negative emotion. So, let me bring you a couple of little nuggets of happiness and be playful here.

Today I want to share a few that I am sure will give you the same smile reading them, as I had writing them for you 😊

So how about….

  • Wearing warm underwear just out of the dryer

  • Seeing a cop on the side of the road but realising you are going under the speed limit anyway

  • When cashier open up a new checkout lane at the grocery store

  • Sleeping in new bedsheets

  • The other side of the pillow

  • Intergenerational dancing

  • Illegal naps

  • Have a whole row to yourself on the plane (…next time we can travel)

  • Popping bubble wrap (just did as I moved flat 😊)

  • Picking the perfect nacho or fry off someone else’s plate

  • The moment at a concert after the light goes out but before the band comes on stage

  • When you push the button for the elevator and it is already there

  • The smell of freshly baked bread

  • Fixing electronic by smacking them

  • The smell of crayons (….glue)

  • Peeling an orange or an apple in one shot

  • The final seconds of untangling a really big knot

  • The smell of rain on a hot sidewalk

  • Finding your birthday is on Friday or Saturday next year (!)

…..Mine is on a Wednesday this year :-( and yours?

Soooo many happy moments, memories, images and feelings, right? 😉

At times we might look for grandiose things to please us, but simple things are there to help us trick ourselves into happiness, particularly as too often we forgot they are there.

QUESTION…

What is the one thing today that made you smile or gave you the simplest joy?
